How To Train Your Dog, Step 1: Patience

🌟🌟🌟 PATIENCE 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We need to talk . . . . . .

The hardest thing for people to put into practice, whether it be in training their dog or just life in general, is PATIENCE.

And it only seems to be getting worse. We want the things we want and we want them now. And our society gives us the false belief that we should get things when we want them. 24 hour delivery. Prime now. Facebook likes and shares. It’s a constant source of adrenaline.

So when we want our dogs to act or behave in a certain way, we expect them to provide the same instantaneous result for us.

But it just doesn’t work that way.

Our dogs are sentient beings. They have feelings, emotions, and their actions and behaviors are based on THEIR feelings …. not ours.

So we have to learn how to understand them. And how to speak to them in a way they understand.

And we need a serious lesson in patience to do this.

So the very first thing I teach when I begin a training lesson in a customers home is PATIENCE.

Everything begins here. Breath in. Breath out. Smile. Repeat.

  1. My daughters female idol is 7 months young. She does not listen. Jumps on everyone, chases cats, chews things up even her toys and bites and chases male dog. They have a special collar for her that she wears when they are home but doesn’t do much good. Help please.
