Thanksgiving With Pets

The holiday season is such a delight for many of us, we look forward to holiday lights and being with family. For me, and I think for many others as well, pets are a big part of our family too!

I enjoy finding new ways each year to include them in our holiday traditions, like taking pictures with them and making special treats just for them.

For most of us, giving the pet some really good food from our Thanksgiving meal is a special treat we are happy to share …. but we do have to be careful about what we give them. Here are some pointers to get you going in the right direction!

YES

TURKEY (skinless, boneless)
POTATOES (sweet, white, plain)
GREEN BEANS (plain)
APPLES  (no core or seeds)
PUMPKIN (not pie filling)
CARROTS (plain)
LEAN MEATS
FRESH FRUITS (no seeds or pits)
EGGS (cooked)
SALT / SUGAR
YEAST

NO

TURKEY BONES
GARLIC
ONIONS
GRAPES / RAISINS
AVOCADO
CHOCOLATE
ALCOHOL
CAFFEINE
NUTS

SO, let your pets enjoy the feast with you but be safe about it! Unfortunately, holidays are very busy times for vet clinics and emergency vet clinics because people are careless about what they give their pet and what they lave lying around for their pet to get into.

Be safe. Have fun, Enjoy the holiday with your pets!

Happy Thanksgiving!
